You are reading: Native Garden Makeover Series – Episode 2: Summer watering tips

Welcome to episode two of our Native Garden Makeover Series. In this episode, David Lullfitz explains the importance of watering native plants in the warmer months, particularly in their first year.

Top tips for watering native plants:

  • Water deep and heavy twice a week on your allocated watering days.
  • If plants look a little bit stressed, give them extra water with a hose.
  • Plants will establish and grow quicker in summer, but you need to keep the water up to them and add a good quality fertiliser.
  • Plants planted in winter will take longer to establish due to cold weather and will require less water due to natural rainfall.

All the native plants featured in this project were grown at our local native plant nursery and can be ordered online for delivery in the Perth metro area. Browse our full range here.
